Poirier used his right hand effectively during the bout, cutting Perez over the right eye with the punch

38 years ago, Tony Lopez defeated Rocky Lockridge by UD12 to win the IBF super featherweight title. The fight was awarded Ring Magazine Fight of the Year.
Future heavyweight king Gene Tunney defeated French idol Georges Carpentier via TKO #OnThisDay in 1924 when Carpentier was unable to continue after coming out for the 15th and final round of their bout at the Polo Grounds in New York. Carpentier was floored three times in Round
