Despite all their technical flaws, Derek Chisora and Deontay Wilder created some really memorable nights for boxing fans over their pro careers. Both were hardly ever in a bad fight. Tonight was a proper send off for them. Here’s hoping they both hang up the gloves now. 🥊
Sloppy fight but highly entertaining heavyweight slugfest. About as good as “bad fights” go. Deontay Wilder with the split decision win aided by two knockdowns of Derek Chisora, and he now has new life. Should earn him another big payday.
Today is NOT the day for the sweet science!!! #ChisoraWilder #boxing
Wilder turned down $100M to fight Joshua for undisputed. If I’m AJ, I tell him to fuck off and I fight Fury next instead.
Remember when the American Boxing Media was trying to convince everyone that Wilder was the biggest puncher in the history of boxing?
David Haye and Dillian Whyte both stopped a prime version of Chisora that was 20lbs lighter.
A reminder that George Foreman was 45 years old when he knocked out a prime, 26 year old Michael Moorer. Now THAT was an elite, all time power puncher.
I love Floyd Mayweather but I have to call a spade a spade. Although no one wanted to see it, pulling out of this second fight with Manny Pacquiao is going to do tremendous damage to his legacy. He's ultimately going to be remembered as a coward who never truly wanted to take
I’d like to collect one or two more titles, and then we’ll see if the guy who became undisputed at 168 wants to come back down and try to win multiple belts at 160. We had a good sparring session once.
Per sources involved, June 20 is the date in the works for the William Zepeda-Lamont Roach Jr. fight for the vacant WBC 135 title that their teams are negotiating. No site yet. #boxing
Willie Pep nearly died in a plane crash in 1947 at 25 years old, literally broke his back and was temporarily paralyzed. Despite that, he fought on nearly 20 more years, winning 229 career pro bouts.
But Tyson was shot to hell after spending a few years of his 20's in jail.👍
