When it comes to Boxing Promotion,I have Don King as the “Michael Jordan of Boxing Promotion”(Highest Peak/Most Influential),and Bob Arum as the “LeBron James of Boxing Promotion”(Longest Reign at the top/in his prime). I grew up a Hoop Head 🏀 so I used a basketball comparison.

105 yrs ago July 2: Jack Dempsey stops Georges Carpentier in 4, retains world heavyweight title, Boyle’s 30 Acres, Jersey City, NJ. In boxing’s 1st million-dollar gate, 80k watch Dempsey pound popular French light heavy champ Carpentier, 16 lbs lighter, in “Fight of the Century.”
Max Schmeling retained the NBA world heavyweight crown #OnThisDay in 1931 with a Round 15 TKO of Young Stribling at the Municipal Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio. The fight was stopped with just 14 seconds remaining after Stribling was floored by the champion.
Oscar Bonavena taunts Muhammad Ali and calls him "a chicken" before their 1970 duel in New York, the exiled Ali's 2nd bout in almost four years. But after losing by 15th round TKO, the tough Argentine admitted that Ali was "no chicken." #Heavyweight #History #Boxing
Marvin Hart claimed the vacant world heavyweight title #OnThisDay in 1905 when he KO'd Jack Root in Round 12 of a fight to the finish clash in Reno, Nevada. Retired champ Jim Jeffries, who refereed the bout, said afterwards that Hart was "a great fighter" who "beat a good man".
